Joel is based in our Head Office in Liverpool and started in 2022. He joined us on a fixed term contract as a Digital Learning Specialist and within a year was given a permanent position. He says:
I work in our small but mighty Learning & Development team and manage the Comms and Learning Platform we have developed to support the different stages of colleagues’ careers.
No two days are ever the same and I really enjoy working for what is a very fast paced business.
I’m in the office four days a week and then work from home on a Friday.
Since Princes was bought by the Italian food group Newlat in 2024 it has been even busier with new companies to integrate, new languages to cater for and more colleagues to provide with the best possible learning resources, modules, mentoring and coaching support. We are a truly global business now.
Before joining Princes, I’d worked in Learning and Development for over 14 years. I started in retail training and then moved into digital roles.
For the past nine months I’ve been heavily involved in the design and roll out of uno, our exciting new digital resource for all personal development compliance training, internal communications and a hub for everything that our colleagues need to know 24/7.
uno is available as a mobile app and will soon become the home screen of our intranet, making it easier than ever to stay connected and informed.
uno brings everything together in one place for everyone at Princes.
It’s your single hub for learning, company updates, key information, and essential tools – making it easier to find what you need, stay informed, and stay connected, all in one place.
I genuinely enjoy creating digital learning content and take real satisfaction in making it as engaging and accessible as possible. I’m passionate about finding ways to turn topics that can sometimes feel complex or dry, such as ethical trading or compliance into learning that feels relevant, human and easy to connect with, while also bringing creativity and energy to areas like communication and people skills.
For me, learning works best when it feels meaningful, practical, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
uno also makes everyday tasks simple. Colleagues can download payslips, book holidays, manage personalised learning, build new skills and complete online training – all in one place.
uno launched in mid-March 2026 and within the first two weeks we saw a 350% increase in app usage with 96% of users already engaged with the platform regularly with over 10,000 interactions.
Everyone in Princes Group has access to uno and each colleague can access it in their preferred language.
We also want the platform to become a community for our colleagues where they can share good news and events at individual site level or across the whole of Princes for example our I’ve got a story feature that allows anyone to tell their stories across Princes. One home, one place, one community.
Outside of work I like to travel and I’m a big fan of city breaks and exploring new places. I also enjoy baking and I’m famous at work for my cheesecakes.
